Tangle Teezer

So we've had a bit of trouble with Nati's hair recently. For one we couldn't get the tangles out and that was horrible in itself. He would cry every time he saw the comb. We have great products that make his hair soft and keep the oil in it, etc. Still NOTHING we tried worked well for tangles- even the detangler we bought in every brand imaginable. I got some great product advice but it wasn't until one of my blogging friends (her blog is private or I would post it) recommended the "Tangle Teezer". I LOVE it. I couldn't find them sold in the US so I bought mine from the web site. I have also been told you can buy them on Ebay but I think they are cheaper from the actual "Tangle Teezer" site. Anyway it took a little while to arrive but we had NO crying and we were able to brush through his hair with no problem. The brush is amazing. I was so impressed by it I had to try it out on my hair to see if it really pulled or not. I have long hair and always feel like my brushes pull so I tried it out... and now I want one for myself! I could not feel it as it took out the tangles. I was skeptical at first b/c all the video's I could find on the product showed them using it on people with straight/wavy hair. But it works great for all hair types. So if you are like us and having problems- I recommend this brush! Plus, they come in a ton of colors! We bought the Pearl Blue Tangle Teezer!

Now if we could just figure out how to get the tiny fuzzies out of his hair-- that he gets from when he sleeps in his crib-- we'd be set. The brush doesn't get them out b/c they are so small and move through the bristles as easily as the hair itself does. They don't tangle it they just stick to his hair. So if anyone has ideas for the fuzz- please share!

K's getting a sibling!

Before we moved to our new house we sent in our pre-application for our second adoption!!! On K's (Nati's) gotcha day we sent in our application as a extra special way to celebrate as a family. We were so excited to start our next adoption and figured we had about two years before everything would be finalized (which was about how long it took with Nataga). We had been getting pieces together here and there and found out some news at the end of April. We already have a boy or girl on the way!! As Nati says "Z in tummy" (he calls the baby Z). So we have been working on teaching Nataga that he has a brother or sister on the way! We have called Gladney and put our application on hold. Anyway we wanted to share our exciting news about our biological baby! We've been talking about how much of a rush this is for us as we were expecting a long wait. 9 months seems SO quick compared to an adoption. I'm sure towards the end of everything it won't be, but right now it feels like everything is happening in a blink of an eye.

If you give a boy a hammer

...he'll want to try it out on everything!
What do you do when you have a lively little boy? Give him something to do! We found this for Nati in the bottom of his toy chest and he has been loving it. He is really good at hammering! He is careful to hold the hammer correctly and will be ready to move on to nails and wood soon (j/k about the wood and nails although I do think he could handle it)! The other picture is so cute I couldn't NOT include it! The bear is from his court date. He hardly is without some kind of stuffed toy and his recent favorite is a tiger grandma and grandpa sent him. :)

Nataga turned 19 months a few days ago! He is still cutting teeth like crazy. He is in the 3rd-5th percentile for weight but his head is in the 75th percentile (for that big brain of his) and his feet are a size 7 going on 8. I am hoping that baby feet work something like dog feet and maybe this means he'll be tall!? If so, he get's his height from me! ;)

Since we moved we have had 0-1 bar when we tried to connect to the internet. It was SUCH a pain and we couldn't do anything/get anything done. Yesterday David realized that his cell phone dropped its signal (in the room we had the computer in) just by walking in the door. So we moved our computer up stairs and as slow as the computer was before, it is at least that fast if not a bit faster!

Also, I posted 4 other posts today from a trip we took in January. I unearthed our disk when I unpacked one of our boxes (nope, we're still not done unpacking). I knew we had taken a lot of pictures and couldn't figure out where they had went. Maybe there are some good things about packing everything up and hauling it from one place to another! I came across some pictures from this Jan. of our trip to the Hill Country! It was so much fun!

Nataga really wanted to get in the stream and kept running towards it. It made us both a quite nervous as the water runs really fast in some places and it was SO cold. After many times of telling him the water was cold and he wouldn't like it, we decided to give in and let him find out for himself.

He had tears for a LONG time after. He kept acting like he couldn't believe we "MADE" him put his feet in the water! Once he got a piggy back ride, he was all smiles a few seconds later!

Nati was SO tired from all of the playing but was scared of our hotel room. Sometimes when we go new places he is still unsure of things so some snuggle time with daddy and he was OUT for the night!

Behold the power of the rock!

 

We'd been working on "The wise man built his house upon the rock" song around this time. He was VERY impressed when he was surrounded by so many rocks- since they ARE in the song we sing. How do you explain to a 14 month old that this is not the rock we had been singing about? Oh well! He'll understand some day! He still sang the song and had a great time scooping up rocks!

This is very typical of Nataga! He always has some funny pose, gesture, you name it... that he likes to entertain us with. Makes life fun.
