Was anyone else glued to the Olympics like we were? Sure we cheered on all of the Americans...who could've predicted some of the swimming events, or even the gymnastics. However, we felt a little different sense of pride for another country! How awesome was it to watch and cheer for another beloved country! We took great pride in watching the long distance runners from Ethiopia perform during the Olympics, knowing they absolutely represented a part of our family. Amazing the different perspectives that are constantly challenged, and changed...
It's also hard for us to imagine just how close we are to a referral: to be able to put a face, history, and name in the place of imagination. Parenthood continues its' creep towards us, sometimes with quiet quickness. The window, has certainly arrived, and it sure seems larger than imagined. What joy, what emotion, what a rollercoaster...and yet we find ourselves in a similar position: patiently waiting, fervently praying, and finding support in the most unpredictable places....

So how much sleep did you lose during the Olympics? It was exciting to watch and to cheer on the Ehtiopian athletes. I saw an Ethiopian woman in a steeplechase heat but never saw the final race of the event. I need to find the race results.
With every day you are getting closer to your referral! How exciting!!! I am glad you are enjoying the view from the window.

Henok was all over the Olympics! All this time he has been very proud to be an American citizen and his document is framed in his room for all to see. However, during the track portion of the Olympics he was ALL Ethiopian.
I'm excited to keep watching and waiting for your referral. I hope it's soon!
My husband (who is Ethiopian) was throwing quite the excitement party at this moment. He was so, so proud! Very exciting moment for Ethiopians!
It was fun having two countries to cheer for. Hang in there. It will happen on the perfect moment. j.jennifermorgan at comcast.net if you need a friend to vent to
